A British Pond, 2020
A commission celebrating the British pond. Lush greens, lily pads, mud, willow trees and everything else that makes you want to jump in and swim during the British summertime.
There's something about the lush greens, the mud and general unkemptness of the British countryside. This is based on a picture I took of a pond that I swam in in the Cotswolds. It reminded me of swimming next to duck poo, as well as lily pads: something that's uniquely good for the soul.
I enjoyed leaving the strands at the back completely wild. I think it really suited the wild nature of the subject matter.
Handwoven on my backstrap loom. Linen warp with cotton slubs, linen, wool and other re-used materials.
