Commission based on my drawings of abstracted landscapes that are both familiar and other worldly.
Sci-fi, alien planets or spaces that seem different or perhaps based on a memory have always been an inspiration to me. Distant clouds or outlines of mountains, abstracted to look like objects or characters within their own right. Drawing and weaving like this is often a form of escapism for me.
I loved playing around with collage as part of my weaving on this one. It was a great excuse to make an idea that's been in my head for a while.
Mixture of linen warps, thick cotton and paper yarn warps all sewn together and mounted on wooden dowels. Woven with wool, cotton and thick cotton slubs.
